Core Assets Fostering - MidlandsA Worcestershire woman who has worked with thousands of foster children has received a long service award in recognition of her huge contribution to social care and Core Assets.

Jane (64), from Great Witley received her award at a ceremony organised in May by Core Assets. Having worked at the organisation for 11 years, Jane was presented with her award by Jan Rees co-founder of the Core Assets Group.

Having qualified as a social worker in 1972, Jane previously worked for a number of local authorities as well as Barnardo’s. Since joining Core Assets, her work has taken her overseas where she has mentored, trained and supported foster carers and social workers in Australia and Bulgaria.  Today, Jane is a carer reviewing officer, based within the Midlands team.

Jane said: “Working with Core Assets has been a wonderful experience and I’m thrilled to receive this level of recognition. Over the years I’ve been fortunate to help grow the organisation from a small Midlands-based fostering agency operation to what is today – an international organisation, working in 10 countries around the world.

“My work really is a way of life for me and I’m proud to be part of a team of professionals which truly places the needs of foster children and foster carers at the centre of what it does. This is what gives me the greatest satisfaction and motivation to continue working for Core Assets.

Peter Battram, Core Assets area manager commented on the unswerving commitment Jane has demonstrated over the years: “We’re hugely grateful to Jane for the contribution she has made on behalf of Core Assets. She excels in delivering the highest standards of practice and is a first class role model to other staff members who are looking to develop their careers at Core Assets.

“We’re always seeking to support employees in their learning and development. Jane has not only been successful in the work she’s undertaken in this country, but has enabled the organisation to share best practice internationally.”
