Over the last two weeks, here at FCA we’ve been celebrating Fostering Network’s Foster Care Fortnight – the UK’s biggest fostering awareness campaign to raise the profile of how foster care transforms lives.
To shine a light on the incredible work our foster parents do each day, we’ve been sharing across our social platforms our wonderful foster parents' own personal reasons why they care about fostering and how they’ve made a difference to a child or young person’s life.
Every year, thousands more foster families are needed up and down the UK to provide a safe and loving home to vulnerable children and young people. To provide a home for just one child is one of the most enriching and rewarding decisions you will ever make. That’s why it’s so important to hear from those who have experienced it, and hear all the joy they get from seeing a child thrive in their care.
Take a look at our top reasons #WhyWeCare in the FCA Family:
“The difficult days are worth it when you see a young person in your care on a day when they are relaxed, content and smiling”.

“There was a girl at the school where I worked who was being moved into the care system. I realised I wanted to open my home to children who couldn't live with their birth families.”

“I was looking to do something that would change the lives of young people, to make a positive contribution.”

"One of our long term fostering placements is a constant reminder that we made the right decision to foster. With our support he gained 7 GCSE’s, full school attendance and has now gone on to complete an apprenticeship programme. He is an absolute credit to our family and fostering experience as a whole."

"It’s wonderful to watch foster children accomplish their goals and develop new skills in life that will help them in their future. It’s a very rewarding career and you work from home. Fostering has given me a positive purpose in life."
