Two remarkable FCA carers from Cymru South have picked up Cardiff Foster Carer of the Year in a prestigious award ceremony at Cardiff City Hall.  Janet and Phil Sutton from Newport received their award at The Bright Sparks Awards, run by Cardiff City Council.

The annual event brings together young care leavers and looked after children to celebrate the achievements they have made throughout the year.  It also recognises agencies, organisations and services who have shown particular support for looked after children or care leavers, as well as acknowledging the Foster Carer of the Year.

It proved to be a double celebration for the couple as their young person also took home an award for his sporting achievements.  Commenting carer Phil Sutton said: “We were amazed.  We were aware that our young person had won an award, so we were originally attending just to support him.  We had no idea that we were also nominated, let alone actually win!”

Well done Janet and Phil, you’re both amazing carers and we are so proud of you.
