Over the weekend of the 13th–14th June, foster parents, children, young people and staff from across FCA and FCA Scotland came together for our Going the Extra Mile event and what an incredible weekend it was!
This year, we had an ambitious aim to cover 3155 miles which symbolised one mile for every foster family, every child who fosters and every child we care for to show that no one at FCA walks alone.
AND WE DID IT!!
Together, we achieved an incredible 3200.58 miles (over 5150 km!) proving once again that when we come together, we really can go the extra mile.
We certainly covered those miles in style! From horse riding and dog walks to scootering, colour runs, sailing, mud runs, cycling and even an ultra marathon, there were so many fantastic ways for everyone to get involved. Whether taking on personal challenges, enjoying family adventures or joining colleagues and friends, every mile counted.

We also raised money for Fin, also known as The Mighty Fin, thanks to April Newman from FCA Cymru. Fin lives with a very rare, life-limiting condition called Mowat-Wilson Syndrome, which has affected virtually all aspects of his development. Despite this, Fin’s outlook is nothing short of inspiring and it was a privilege for our community to support such an incredible boy and his family.
Going the Extra Mile was a wonderful reminder of the power of community. FCA is huge, spread across many regions, but what makes weekends like this so special is how they bring us all together. No matter where we are, we are united by one shared goal, to support children, young people and each other.
Events like this remind us that although we may be miles apart day to day, we are always connected as one fostering family.
A huge thank you to everyone who took part and helped make the weekend such a success. Every step, pedal, bounce and stride contributed to something truly special, and together, we showed that at FCA, no one walks alone.
Together, we went the extra mile.
