FCA is hoping for a triple win across its two regional teams with three nominations at this year’s National Children and Young People Awards.

These unique awards celebrate excellence in care for children, young people and families, showcase innovation and best practices in this area, and pay tribute to those individuals or organisations who excel in quality care provision.

This year, the FCA Yorkshire and Lincolnshire region has been nominated for the “Biggest Impact Award”, which highlights a team’s initiative that has helped promote positive change in the lives of vulnerable children and families. The outstanding team must show evidence of working creatively and passionately to promote well-being and advocacy.

The shortlist for awards doesn't stop there for FCA Yorkshire and Lincolnshire, with Participation Officer, Jessica Palmer also being nominated for the Support Worker of the Year Award, an award which recognises the crucial role of the support worker in providing high-quality care and support for children, young people and families.

Finally, Joanne Edwards, the Children’s Support Service Manager for FCA Midlands also scooped the prestigious nomination for Lifetime Achievement Award for her dedication to the children and young people across FCA.

Joanne has been working for FCA for 22 years which has allowed her to watch the full life journey of many young people and to become a part of their life story.

Joanne said "This is undeniably very special to me. What brings me the most joy is the relationships I have been able to build with the children and young people I work with. It is an utter privilege and delight to see our young people thrive and achieve their goals, ambitions, and potential, and know I have been a small part of that journey. I have during my career been enabled to work as creatively and autonomously as possible. Therefore I have been able to launch many initiatives and programmes such as our Stronger Futures programme that has supported our young people to live their best lives. After 22 years I am proud to say there is still nothing I would rather be doing".

The winners will be announced at a gala dinner and ceremony at the ICC, Birmingham on the 6th October 2022.

A big well done to the team who always go above and beyond - providing young people with opportunities to have their voices heard, gain new experiences, and most importantly, to have fun!
