It may have been a rainy weekend but that hasn’t stopped our fantastic team from stopping off at towns across the South to spread the word about fostering.
Our first destination was Southampton’s Bargate Market where we spent Saturday battling the storms to share information with local shoppers, before visiting Commercial Road in Portsmouth on Sunday. Despite the windy weather, which meant a delay in putting up our colourful tent, we still managed to encourage lots of visitors to stop and chat.
With a collection of classic childhood toys on display including a giant Rubik’s cube, sock monkey and Lego blocks, it was no surprise that we captured the attention of passers-by – with one young visitor in particular being fascinated by our slinky!
We were surprised at how many people were already aware of fostering, knew someone who fostered or had already thought about becoming a carer. In fact, over 150 people stopped to chat to us about becoming a foster carer with us over our first two days. And with another 15 destinations in the pipeline, we’re hoping there’ll be plenty more to come!
In the next week alone, we’ll be stopping off at Havant, Farnham, Woking, Basingstoke and Worthing – find out when we’ll be in a town near you with our handy events calendar.
