Newcastle office opening 2Our new FCA office in Newcastle was officially opened by Paralympian Stephen Miller on Monday 30th September.
Over 50 carers and staff came to meet Stephen and see him cut the ribbon to declare the office officially open.

Mick Austin, area manager at Core Assets North East (pictured with Stephen) commented:

“We are delighted that Stephen has agreed to open the new office as he is such an inspirational local figure and someone that our foster children can look up to.”

“This is a really positive move for us as we currently have 77 carers in the Newcastle and surrounding areas and needed a new office to accommodate training and activities.”

Stephen kindly prepared a DVD of himself competing at the Paralympics and a poem that he wrote for the London Paralympics. He spoke about how honoured he was to open the office, his recognition of the challenges that young people face and his gratitude for the support of his family during his childhood, which has helped him to achieve what he has today.

After the official opening ceremony carers took part in a gingerbread man decorating competition judged by Stephen. Foster Carer Irene also organised a cake sale for Macmillan Cancer Support and a raffle which raised £117.
