Foster Care Fortnight 2026 has officially begun and will run until Sunday 24th May. Led by The Fostering Network, this annual campaign celebrates the vital role of fostering and raises awareness of the difference it can make in the lives of children and young people.
This year’s theme – ‘This is Fostering’ – highlights the many real and diverse stories across the fostering community.
At FCA, we’re proud to support this campaign and the incredible carers who open their homes and lives to children and young people every day. At a time when there is a national shortage of foster parents, the message is more important than ever. Across the UK, thousands of children come into care each year, and there is a continued need for safe, stable, and caring homes.
But beyond the statistics, Foster Care Fortnight is about something deeply human: the difference one relationship, one home, and one consistent, supportive adult can make in a child’s life.
And just as importantly, it’s about recognising and valuing the foster parents who make that difference every single day, and the support network that stands beside them throughout their journey.

Making a difference every day
At FCA, we see every day the impact that dedicated carers can have. Children who come into care may have experienced uncertainty or trauma, and what they need most is stability, understanding, and a place where they feel safe and supported.
Fostering is about creating that sense of belonging – offering consistent care, building trust over time, and helping young people move forward with confidence.
Just as importantly, fostering is not something you do alone. Fostering is a partnership, and at FCA, we’re here to walk beside you every step of the way.
With over 30 years of experience and a strong UK-wide presence, we provide the support, guidance, and reassurance carers need to feel confident in their role. This includes expert training to help you build your skills, 24/7 support whenever you need it, and a dedicated team who truly understands the realities of fostering.
We also offer opportunities to connect through fun activities and a close-knit support network, helping you feel part of a community that shares experiences, advice, and encouragement.
It’s about making sure you never feel alone – because when carers feel supported, children feel supported too.
Real stories, shared through our community
One of the ways we are celebrating Foster Care Fortnight this year is by sharing real voices and experiences from across our fostering community.
Through our “Let’s Talk About Fostering” podcast, we bring together carers and professionals to talk openly about what fostering is really like. These are honest, human stories that explore both the rewards and the challenges, helping to build a clearer understanding of fostering today.
By sharing these experiences, we hope to show that fostering is not about being perfect, it’s about being present, supported, and willing to make a difference.
