Foster Care Fortnight 2025: The Power of Relationships

As Foster Care Fortnight begins, we're celebrating the power of relationships—the theme for this year's campaign. At FCA, strong, supportive connections are at the heart of everything we do, from the bonds between foster parents and children to the wider support network within our community. Join us as we share inspiring stories that show how these relationships truly transform lives.

Celebrating the Life-Changing Power of Fostering

Today marks the start of Foster Care Fortnight – the UK’s biggest awareness raising campaign for fostering. The theme for Foster Care Fortnight this year is the power of relationships, so we’re sharing some of the stories from our foster parents – highlighting the incredible difference foster care relationships make to people’s lives.

This theme is apt as here at FCA, building strong relationships is what it’s all about. Whether it’s supporting the bond between our foster parents and a child, the support of our social workers and local teams, or the friendships built between our community of foster parents – these relationships shape lives.

Hear from our community of foster parents below, each one showing how strong, supportive relationships can transform lives in the most meaningful ways.

How our foster parents are changing lives…

“I get so much out of fostering, and I’ve grown in so many ways I wouldn’t have grown if I hadn’t of met these amazing young people that come into our lives. Whatever love and nurture we give, we get back, and it just helps us grow.”

Meet FCA foster parent, Vanessa, who has been fostering for nearly a decade. She shares the support she’s received through FCA, and the positive impact fostering has had on her life.

“Fostering has enriched our lives. To see the children experience new things, and the feedback you get from them is priceless.”

Meet foster parents Phill and Stig who recently celebrated their first year of fostering with FCA. The couple share the importance of giving their foster children new enriching experiences.

“Fostering has brought us all together as a family, I wish we had started a long time ago”

Fostering is a journey – and the right support makes all the difference

At FCA, our social workers play a vital role in supporting foster families. They help build a strong, inclusive network where both foster parents and children can thrive.

We see fostering as a true partnership, and your supervising social worker is at the heart of that relationship. They’re your go-to person—someone who listens, understands, and responds to your needs. Whether it’s day-to-day guidance or navigating more complex situations, they’re by your side every step of the way.
