Core Assets Fostering ‘Gets in the Frame’ for Foster Care Fortnight

Archived: Posted May 8, 2013

Core Assets FosteringWith Foster Care FortnightTM starting next week, Core Assets is looking to fly the flag for fostering by championing the hard work of carers and their dedication to making a positive and lasting difference for children.

Under the theme ‘Get in the Frame’, this year’s Foster Care FortnightTM runs from 13th to 26th May and asks the nation to consider putting themselves ‘in the frame’ for a rewarding career in fostering to help alleviate the UK’s 9,000 foster carer shortfall.

Core Assets Fostering is supporting the national initiative by hosting a series of information events for prospective foster carers and celebrating the work of current carers at fun days and long service awards. We’re also launching an artwork competition for foster children including artwork exhibitions in local offices across the UK.

Jim Smith, registered manager for Core Assets Fostering in the North East commented on the ‘Get in the Frame’ campaign and the need for more carers:

“Foster carers come from all walks of life. You don’t need to have tons of experience working with young people to ‘Get in the Frame’ for fostering, you just need patience, resilience and the drive to make a difference for children.

“We provide foster carers with 24 hour support, on-going training, carer forums and a dedicated team of professionals including a social worker, education officer and therapist. So carers are well equipped for the fostering task.

“We urgently need new foster carers to step forward, so pop along to one of our open days or call us today.”

Foster Care FortnightTM is an initiative co-ordinated by the Fostering Network.
