Behind Debbie and Anthony’s front door

Behind our front door lives…..

Myself Debbie, who is the main carer, my husband Anthony and our two foster children who have just recently come to live with us.  Our birth children have left home now but are regular visitors with their own small families.  We have an extra two special members of the household to mention our two very beautiful dogs,  Diego and Bella, who love to cuddle everyone.

The best thing about being a foster carer?

We love to see the children grow from strength to strength, seeing them learning how to be a child again.  Since our birth children have grown up and moved on, we love having our home filled again.

What advice would you give to anyone thinking of becoming a foster carer ?

There is never any time like the present, if this is something your heart longs to do.  The process is not as long and daunting as it might first seem, and gives you the time to learn new skills to prepare you for your first placement and what to expect ready for the day when they arrive and live behind your own front door!

What have been your biggest achievements as a foster carer?

I think for us so far it has been seeing the difference of giving a child a safe, secure environment to live in and seeing a totally different child in their behaviour towards others.

It’s about being that role model in life to them, as many children don’t always get that, someone to show them how we should treat one another
