“There’s not one person that I don’t feel I could go to if I needed help.”

Jackie from Devon has been fostering with FCA South Western since 2014. She loves the sense of community and events like our annual FCA Fun Fest, where foster families connect and celebrate.

Meet foster parent Jackie from Devon. With four grown-up children of her own, fostering felt like a natural next step once her own children had flown the nest.

She’s been fostering with FCA South Western since 2014 and has loved every moment of the journey.

“With my young man that I’ve got, he stayed after he was 18 so he’s basically part of our family now.”

Speaking at FCA Fun Fest, an annual summer celebration of foster families, Jackie says:

“Days like today are lovely because I think for other foster carers they can bring the children. There’s no judgment.”

“The kids can be completely themselves without having to worry. I find them very supportive — I know that I can always ring somebody anytime and I’ll get the help that I need. They’ve got that bit of a family feel to them. They’re very approachable. There’s not one person that I don’t feel I could go to if I needed help.”

At FCA South Western, everything we do is about putting children first and listening to their voices. From our Registered Manager to social workers and admin staff, everyone works together to make a real difference in the lives of children and families.

If you’re ready to make a difference to a child or family’s life, we’d love to hear from you. Get in touch today and take the first step on your fostering journey.
