Fostering with pride

We believe that it’s your personal qualities and what you can offer that make you a great foster parent and not your gender or sexual orientation.

Whether you’re male or female, straight, lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgender, as long as you’re compassionate and can provide a stable environment for a child or young person, you really have got what we’re looking for.

At FCA, we are proud to have many LGBTQI foster families. We have built a reputation as one of the leaders in championing and supporting LGBTQI foster parents. From the outset, we only recruit people from across the spectrum who are open to diversity.

We’re committed to developing supportive foster parents, both for each other and the children and young people they look after. Our underlying message is that foster care is open to everyone and we provide a safe and welcoming community to our foster parents from the assessment process right through to a child coming to your home and it doesn’t end there.

If you can provide a loving and stable home, we’ll equip you with the training and support you need to really help make a difference.

Why foster? Is fostering right for you?

Can I foster if I am single?

We get asked this question a lot. The answer is yes, you don’t have to be in a relationship to foster – you just need to care and be able to demonstrate you have a support network.

We have many single foster parents from the LGBTQ community who are helping change the lives of children in their care. Get in touch with us today to find out more.

How do I become an LGBTQI foster parent?

The process for becoming a foster parent is the same whether you are gay, straight, married or single. We really do welcome applications from anyone and everyone who believes they can play in part in supporting and developing a vulnerable child or young person.  Your application will be treated in exactly the same way and you’ll have exactly the same access to our support, training and services.

If you are interested in fostering, the first step is to speak with our team who will let you know more about the role and answer any questions.
