Fostering is hugely rewarding, but we understand that foster carers, their families, and looked after children sometimes need a change of scenery. That’s why we offer our carers a chance to visit Treberfedd Farm – free of charge – for a few days of fun, rest and relaxation.
What is Treberfedd?
Treberfedd Farm consists of four stunning holiday cottages, situated on the picturesque Aeron Valley in Wales. Ideally located between Aberaeron and Lampeter, and close to the stunning Cardigan Bay, the organic farm and holiday destination is the perfect break for you and your family.
When can I go?
We work closely with the Treberfedd team and your local team to plan holiday breaks. Cottages are allocated to different regions on different dates and your carer representative will give you all the information you need at your foster carer forum.
As a foster carer with FCA, you’re also able to book to stay at the farm yourself and enjoy the safe and welcoming environment. We all know how much children love to run around in the fresh air and let off some steam. And by staying at Treberfedd, looked after children and your birth children can have a well-deserved break, meet friends, and make memories they’ll never forget.
Foster carers Bernie and Nikki from Gloucester stayed at Treberfedd Farm earlier this year. They share their experiences of a wonderful break away:
“The three of us had a really fantastic time staying in the Granary cottage on the farm. We arrived on Good Friday and stayed for five great nights. The cottage was very warm and welcoming.
The location of the farm gave us the opportunity to visit the seaside and the countryside, so we spent long sunny days visiting places like Newquay and Aberystwyth. We got our wellies on (which were supplied by the farm) to wander round and splash in Dragon’s Creek.
On our first day we ate fish and chips on the harbour at Aberaeron, strolled down the promenade and played on the rocks and beach. We also explored the local Roman and Victorian gold mines underground with helmets and torches. Both were really interesting and enjoyable, and were followed by gold panning and identifying ‘fool’s gold’.
All in all we had a brilliant few days away…country side, seaside, beaches, lots and lots of fresh air, castles and gold mines. We can’t wait until next year!”
