North West Foster Carers Help Bulgarian Babies

Core Assets Fostering - North WestA foster carer from Ashton-Under-Lyne is knitting together a plan to support vulnerable children in Bulgaria.

Yvonne, 48, works with Core Assets Fostering and has been rallying members of her community to knit much needed blankets and cardigans for orphaned babies, as part of a knit-a-thon initiative for the For Our Children foundation.

“When I heard about the For Our Children foundation at my carer support group, I knew I wanted to help,” explained Yvonne.

“The charity does fantastic work supporting extremely vulnerable babies and I have lots of friends in the community who I knew would be happy to help. There are now nine ladies helping the cause including friends from my church, some of my neighbours and other foster carers too. So far we’ve knitted 28 garments and still have plenty of wool left.

“I’d like to thank the Rotary Club for their donation, Krafty Bits for the discounted wool, and a huge thank you to all of the people who took the time to knit cardigans and blankets for the cause.”

As the leading provider of foster care, Core Assets Fostering is committed to supporting charities both locally and internationally and partners the For Our Children foundation by sharing best practice and practical support with the charity.

Yvonne continued: “I’m delighted to have joined Core Assets as I’ve always loved caring for children and wanted to make a difference in their lives. I think it’s fantastic that the agency encourages its carers to support charities such as For Our Children because it demonstrates their dedication to young people around the world.”
