Caring staff from Foster Care Associates’ (FCA) Midlands office in Bromsgrove held a Mad Hatters Tea Party themed day in aid of Acorns Children’s Hospice.

Foster Care Associates (FCA) Bromsgrove office hosts Mad Hatters Tea Party in aid of Acorns HospiceMore than 30 support workers, social workers and administrative staff attended the event on Topaz Business Park, Bromsgrove, to remember a boy in FCA’s care who lost his life in 2012 after being diagnosed with a life-limiting genetic disorder. During his last months he was looked after by Acorns Children’s Hospice, and supported by FCA social workers who were able to step in to offer the boy’s foster carer much needed respite and rest.

Humbled by the care and dedication Acorns staff provided, FCA staff wanted to give something back and raised money for the charity through a cake bake and raffle, dressed as characters from Alice in Wonderland, raising more than £125.

Joanne Edwards is the FCA Support Service Team Manager in the Midlands who helped look after the boy whilst at Acorns Children’s Hospice. She said: “Having spent a lot of time with the Acorns team and seeing the incredible care, love and dedication they provide to the children in their care left me truly humbled.

“Our Mad Hatters Tea Party was held not only to raise much needed money for this incredible children’s charity, but also to remember the little boy in FCA’s care whose life, although short, was made comfortable by the team at Acorns and ensured he was surrounded by love.”
