Keeping warm with random acts of kindness

Our South Western team have been out spreading the word about fostering – with some random acts of kindness thrown in for good measure.

Foster Care Associates recruitment event in ExeterThe team hosted a successful recruitment day at Sainsbury’s in Pinhoe, Exeter on Wednesday 11th February, to encourage more people in the South West to become foster carers. They had a really good day, with lots of people stopping to talk to the team and find out more information about what’s involved in fostering a child or young person.

Despite the chilly northerly wind, the recruitment event was a great opportunity to talk to local people about the work FCA South Western do as a team and how life changing foster caring can be. One of our carers, Lynda, was a particular hit, and able to share her experiences in a very positive and inspirational way.

Stephanie Diamond, Education Liaison Officer for FCA South Western said: “The event in Exeter went really well. We had high footfall and lots of people were attracted to the display and stopped to read, with several taking information leaflets.”

She continued: “We spoke to a few people who were currently doing some research into fostering and so were very interested in the work we do”.

There was also a chance to share some goodwill as part of Random Acts of Kindness Week. The team were quick to help when an elderly lady struggled past with shopping bags on the verge of breaking, and again when another shopper’s purchases set the store’s alarm off. On a very cold Exeter day, it was lovely to spread some warmth and further the message that foster caring is an incredible and rewarding choice to make.

If you think you could become one of our South Western foster carers, please get in touch.
