Jim’s Passion for Panto

Archived: Posted February 25, 2013

During the dark winter months, most of us would rather go home after work and put our feet up with a nice cup of tea. But for Jim Smith, Registered Manager for the North East, evenings are the perfect time to get his glad rags on and tread the boards of his local community centre.

Jim, who is currently starring as Abanazar in a production of Aladdin, has a passion for acting and performing that started around nine years ago. His repertoire of colourful roles includes playing the Dame in Tom Thumb and Georgie Porgie in Mother Goose, alongside musical appearances in Oklahoma and My Fair Lady.

Jim says “I really enjoy taking part in the pantomimes and Aladdin has been one of my favourites. It’s lovely to see the audience getting into the spirit of panto and it’s been great to have my colleagues and foster carers coming along to support me.” Fellow staff and foster carers agree, saying “we were really impressed by Jim’s performance.”

Aladdin is running at the Eaglescliffe Community Centre, Stockton from 28th January to 2nd March.
