Health and Wellbeing Day for Northern Ireland Foster Carers

Core Assets Fostering - Northern IrelandOn the 7th May, a ‘Health and Wellbeing Day’ took place at the office in Northern Ireland and was very well attended with more than 16 carers who came in for the support group.

The day began with a talk from complementary therapist Sal Harvey on nutrition and how it affects our mood. Everyone found this really interesting and it certainly gave the carers some ideas about improving meal times and the kind of foods that could be included in young people’s diets that might help promote positive mental wellbeing.

After the talk, carers where offered a choice of 4 treatments by beauty therapists from the SERC in Downpatrick. These included:

  • Indian Head Massage
  • Neck and Shoulder Massage
  • Make up Application
  • Hand Massage and Manicure

All the carers seemed to really enjoy the day and feedback was really positive:

One carer said “I had a neck and shoulder massage, it was excellent! It released a lot of tension and was very good!”

Another carer commented that they’d had “A very enjoyable relaxing morning, I feel 10 years younger!”

And one said “The day was fantastic, all the options where great and I hope they run it again. I would definitely recommend it to other carers to attend.”

Thanks to everyone who attended and to staff for arranging the day, it was clearly a great success!
