Half Term Activities Galore with Core Assets Fostering South Western

Archived: Posted April 23, 2013

Sometimes it can be difficult to think of interesting stuff for the kids (or the whole family) to do during half term but Core Assets Fostering South Western region kept everyone entertained with a variety of activities over the two week break.

At the start of the Easter hols everyone donned their coats for a woodland day on 4th April at Cardingham woods. Children and adults took in the scenery and fresh air as they walked three miles to the top of the hill before building a camp and eating a well-earned packed lunch. The day was part of a bush craft activity that some of the young people had requested to try and they really enjoyed it.

Next up, the region held a Junior day at the Bodmin office on 8th April where looked after children and birth children learned how to cook Easter nests and then got crafty making origami boxes to package them in. Yum!

10th April was family day and time for a spot of drumming and pottery painting. Though not normally two activities you’d find together, carers had requested the pottery painting bit and staff thought it would be a good idea to get the young people involved with some creative music-making! The result was a wonderful mix of sounds/noises and some lovely art work. Everyone agreed it was a fantastic day.

And finally, it was senior day in Bodmin on 11th April, with a trip to Carnglaze caverns followed by a group activity making masks.

All in all it was a fun-packed half term for Core Assets Fostering South Western young people and carers; a great opportunity to get involved, spend some quality time together and release that creative energy!
