Generous foster carers and supporters raise over £2000 for children’s hospice
Archived: Posted January 27, 2015Just before Christmas we raised an incredible £2000 for the South Wales children’s hospice Tŷ Hafan at our annual fundraising dinner. And it gave us great pleasure to hand over the proceeds when we visited the hospice this week.
Vic Thomas, operations director for our Wales team visited the hospice in Sully to present a cheque to Rebecca Chick, business and community fundraiser at Tŷ Hafan.

FCA Cymru’s Vic Thomas presents Rebecca Chick of Tŷ Hafan with proceeds from our fundraising gala dinner.
When she received the cheque, Rebecca said: “We are incredibly grateful to FCA Cymru for organising a gala dinner and raising a fantastic amount of money for Tŷ Hafan. We need to raise £3.7m each year to support life-limited children and their families from across Wales, and we simply couldn’t continue to provide our services without the generosity and kindness shown by the public and organisations like FCA Cymru.”
The gala dinner, which last year was held at the Marriot Hotel in Swansea, is the highlight of our fundraising calendar. Local businesses and foster carers from across South Wales generously raised more than £2,000 on the night through auctions, raffles and donations. Among the many fabulous auction prizes were tickets to the warm up games for the Rugby World Cup and signed Welsh rugby and football shirts, which all helped to lift the fundraising total.
Commenting on the fundraising night, Vic Thomas said: “It was an absolute privilege to organise a fundraising event for this wonderful organisation and recognise the amazing work Tŷ Hafan do for children with life-limiting illnesses and their families. I know the money raised will be used to continue to support the fantastic work they do.”
More than 600 children and their families have been supported by Tŷ Hafan through its hospice and homes over the last 15 years. A big thank you to our Wales team and all of our selfless carers and supporters for continuing to support Tŷ Hafan through our fundraising initiatives.
