Foster Families On the Buses to Recruit New Carers

Core Assets Carer Ambassadors above the new bus advertFostering families across Teesside are in the driving seat of our new campaign to encourage local people to find out more about fostering.

The campaign, kicking off this month, aims to raise awareness of the need for foster carers across the North East and features the ‘are you ready for the journey’ message on a fleet of eighteen buses across the area.

Our friendly carer ambassadors will be at local events in Stockton-on-Tees and Hartlepool over the next few weeks to offer information and advice to potential foster carers.

One of them is Claire, a foster carer from Coulby Newham. She says: “I began fostering two years ago because I wanted to make a difference to the lives of young people and spend more time at home with my own children. It has been challenging at times but the positives definitely outweigh the hard times and I would recommend fostering to anyone who has the time and patience to help these young people.”

Jim Smith, registered manager for the North East, commends the work of the carer ambassadors. “It’s fantastic to see our own foster carers getting behind our recruitment drive as it’s important for people interested in fostering to speak with the people who are actually doing the job as they’ll be able to dispel any myths about becoming a carer.”

Are you interested in becoming a foster carer in Teeside? Our carer ambassadors and friendly staff will be at Asda, Stockton on Tuesday 26th March from 10am – 4pm and Tesco, Hartlepool on Friday 5th April from 9.30-5.30pm.
