Jack Sparrow attends Children and Young People Achievement Awards in South WalesCaptain Jack Sparrow from Pirates of the Caribbean was the special guest at Cymru South’s Children & Young Peoples Achievement Awards, which was held at the Liberty Stadium, Swansea on Thursday 29th October 2015. Over 100 people attended and more than 40 young people were nominated for awards across categories including Education, Personal Life Skills, Sports, After school Activities & Home Grown Group.

The awards recognise the achievements of children and young people placed with FCA Cymru South, plus the birth children of foster carers. We’ve been holding the awards annually for the last 10 years.

As well as being entertained by Captain Jack who gave out the awards, the children enjoyed a disco, face painting and other fun activities including a photo booth where everyone could put on fancy dress. There was even a chocolate fountain!

It was priceless seeing the children and young people gain their awards on stage alongside Captain Jack.  It’s fair to say that everyone really enjoyed the day, and the feedback was fantastic. When asked what was the best part of the awards ceremony, one Local Authority Social Worker said: “seeing the children and young people achieve and progress”.
