A fabulous evening of fun, fundraising, food and frolics at FCA gala dinner

Archived: Posted December 16, 2014

Foster Care Associates (FCA) Cymru recently held their annual fundraising gala dinner in aid of children’s hospice Ty Hafan at the Marriot Hotel Swansea.
The event did not disappoint, and was attended by generous local businesses and carers from all across South Wales who raised more than £2,000 through auctions, raffles and donations on the night.

Some of the highpoints included performances from Jimi Webb, one of the UK’s best Michael Buble tribute acts, however the highlight of the evening had to be the amazing performance from members of The Rising Stars Theatre Company – a performing arts charity of young people aged between 15 and 30, from across the Swansea region, who have a range of conditions including Down’s Syndrome, and ADHD to Autism.

Following their performance of Take That’s Rule The World there wasn’t a dry eye in the house – all the young people involved in the performance lived up to their name ‘Rising Stars’. One of the performers even joined Michael Buble tribute, Jimi Webb, for an impromptu rendition of My Way!

The fabulous auction prizes on the night included tickets to the warm up games for the Rugby World Cup and signed Welsh rugby and football shirts all helping to lift the fundraising total.

Over the past 15 years more than 600 children and their families have benefited from the care and support that Ty Hafan provide at their hospice and homes. Rebecca Chick, business and community fundraiser, at Ty Hafan presented a moving video about their work which really brought home the reason why everyone was there.

An amazing night was had by all, thanks to the FCA Cymru team and support from their selfless carers who will ensure that dozens of foster children in South Wales have a safe and happy 2015.
