South West celebrates FCA turning 25!
October has been a fun packed month of celebrations and FCA South West enjoyed not just one but two fabulous parties to celebrate FCAs 25th birthday. Fostering Service Manager Naomi Pollard has written a blog to tell us all about their fun activities.
Our first 25th party celebration took place on the 24th October where we enjoyed a crisp Autumnal day at Dartmoor Zoo. Our staff, foster parents and children spent time walking around watching and listening to all the wonderful animals. There were zoo staff available to provide fascinating talks about some of the animals. A firm favourite was the stunning tiger who spent much of the day stretching and yawning in the sun.
After all the walking we had built up a good appetite, so we all met in the restaurant for a celebratory feast which consisted of delicious salads, quiches and meats and who could forget the incredible deserts. We were joined by FCA Managing Director Roy Murray who spent time chatting to everyone but also handed out party bags and gifts to the children and foster parents. The day was rounded off by some of the children getting on the soft play bus and others revisiting some of their favourite animals.
Our second event was on the 30th October where the children in the North of our region got ‘spooky’ at a Halloween party in Bristol.
We hosted a wonderful party with food and games, and of course the obligatory scary Halloween costumes! Children, foster parents and staff alike all dressed up and enjoyed the fun. There were a range of party games to cater for everyone which were Halloween Twister, squidgy spider target practice and there was even some spooky cake decorating. A lovely lunch arrived and the day was finished off with our Registered Manager Gerry Connell presenting the foster parents with their 25th birthday gifts, children also took home Halloween party bags.
We really have had the most amazing time making memories and marking FCAs 25th birthday. We are all so proud of all the work we do as a region to make a real difference to the lives of children, young people and families, none of which would of been possible without our marvelous foster families and staff.
FCA South West are looking to recruit more foster parents, if you are interesting in fostering or would just like to find out more information contact us.
