FCA Midlands celebrates 25 years of FCA
On Sunday 20th October over 320 foster parents, children, young people and staff from FCA Midlands came together to celebrate 25 years of FCA.
As our event was held at the West Midlands Safari Park, so it felt appropriate for the theme for the day to be animals / safari and this was embraced by team Midlands. On arrival foster families made their way to our private party room where each guest was presented with a VIP lanyard which would also be a keepsake of the day.
We had a jam packed day full of fun which included a fancy dress competition for young people and foster parents. There was also face painting, glitter tattoos, our foster parent appreciation awards and a dance off competition.
A real highlight was our Hopes and Aspirations tree, where foster parents, children and young people were asked to write their hopes and aspirations for the next 25 years on tags which were then hung on the tree. What became evident from the hopes left was how everyone loves the FCA family with many people saying their hope was to continue to be part of it. This was so lovely to see as here in the Midlands we strive to ensure that our family feel is threaded throughout all we do.
After a wonderful BBQ buffet lunch served on bamboo plates with bamboo cutlery (which fits lovely with our Eco friendly philosophy here in the Midlands). There were individual cupcakes for everyone and an amazing birthday cake that we think would put anything from the British Bake Off in the shade, made for us by one of our foster parents carers. What better way to burn off all of those calories than to throw some shapes on the dance floor, boy can our kid’s rock it! We even had one of our young people sing ‘7 years by Lukas Graham, (not a dry eye in the house!) Everyone then received Gold VIP wristbands which gave them free access to all of the theme park.
The day was such a special day in so many ways, not only did we come together to celebrate 25 years of FCA we also came together to celebrate our wonderful foster parents and children but also to celebrate how far our FCA Family has come. To top if off we had such amazing feedback from everyone.
“Just wanted to say we all had a brilliant time today at the Safari park, thank you all so much”. “This is 100% FCA Midlands at its best!”
