Care Leaver Takes Part in The BBC Children In Need Rickshaw Challenge
This year FCA young person, Kieran, has been given the opportunity to take part in the BBC Children in Need Rickshaw Challenge. Cymru foster carers, Dan and Emma, have looked after Kieran for the past six years and have seen his confidence grow each and every day. Foster carer Dan works for The Hwb Torfaen which is a youth club funded by Children in Need. It is through this that he was given the opportunity to take part in such an extraordinary challenge, being able to share his story as a young person in care. Ahead of the Rickshaw Challenge, FCA supported Kieran when he shared his experience at Sparks in The Park Bonfire in Cardiff with over 20,000 people in attendance. You can watch his speech here.
On Tuesday 13th November, FCA staff and foster carers cheered and welcomed Kieran live on BBC’s The One Show at the Malvern finish line. There were personalised banners which said “Go Kieran, we are behind you all the way” which FCA waved around.
The Rickshaw Challenge finishes on Friday 16th November, with the team crossing the final finish line at Media City in Salford, Manchester, where FCA staff and foster carers will be there to give Kieran and the five other riders an enormous welcome! We are so thrilled that Kieran has been given this opportunity to share his story, he wants to show children and young people in care that they can too go on to achieve great things.
Good luck everyone at FCA is right behind you!
Tune in to BBC Children in Need on Friday night to keep up to date and watch the Rickshaw challenge live (and look out for the FCA supporters).
