Awards, MBEs and a big pink bus – not just an average month at FCA!

Archived: Posted July 14, 2015

It’s been a fantastic month for the team of carers, social workers and staff here at Foster Care Associates (FCA) North East.  Not only did two of our foster carers receive recognition for their services and dedication to children, we also held a hugely successful recruitment event in Stockton and welcomed visitors on board our Big Pink Bus for the first time.

Cathy Davis MBE from North Shields, is among several community heroes in the North East who were named in the Queen’s Birthday Honours List.  We were so proud to hear that she has received an MBE for Services to Children and Families following her 18 years of being a single foster carer with FCA.

Finally, the FCA ‘Big Pink Bus’ pulled into the North East region for the first time and made a visit to Preston Park in Stockton-on-Tees for its annual Fire Engine and Vintage Vehicle Show. We secured a prime spot just around the edge of the main arena, right in front of monster truck shows, vintage fire engines from all over the UK and more importantly next door to the ice cream van!

Jodie Fletcher-Murray, operations manager at our North East team said: “At FCA we have an extremely strong network of foster carers who view fostering as just an extension of their own family. I’m so proud of all of our carers who, together with FCA’s social and outreach workers, provide each other with a stable support system and make a huge difference to young people’s lives.”
