Ashurst Support Worker Strolls Her Way To Success

Archived: Posted June 4, 2013

A support worker from the South has raised over £250 for breast cancer after completing a midnight charity walk across London.

Elaine Mutter (pictured, right), from our Ashurst office, completed the famous power-walk, which included wearing decorated bras, with friends in aid of ‘Walk the Walk’ – a charity famed for its support of breast cancer causes.

The half-marathon started with a hot meal, celebrity motivational speeches and a warm up at Moonwalk Village in Battersea Park, before Elaine hit the streets of London to tackle 13.8 miles of pavement. Along the way, she faced heavy rain, cold and even a police diversion – but took it all in her stride!

“The support from the public on the street, volunteers and one group of firemen, who stood outside their fire-station to cheer us on, was brilliant”, says Elaine. “All the training had been worth it. We arrived at 4.30am as the sun began to rise, cold but happy to collect our medals.”

“A big thank you to all of you who have sponsored me, I very much appreciate your support. This is an amazing charity that does wonderful work for women and men who have been touched by this dreadful disease.”
