A spooktacular evening of fun!

Our Leeds team held their annual Halloween extravaganza last week – and it really was quite a terrifying couple of hours! Events like this really are Leeds’ speciality – the team goes all out with the decorations and activities!

Halloween party for foster children in LeedsOur new office in Leeds was decorated to within an inch of its life, we even had spooky sound effects! The event kicked off with some cookie decorating and crafts which got extremely messy but was enjoyed by all. Once everyone had arrived, all the children and young people were split up into teams so that the rest of the activities could be done as a group, and it gave them chance to make friends with people that they might not have met before. To whet everyone’s appetites it was Bushtucker Trial time, with each team sending a volunteer forward for ‘tasting’. They sampled delights such as rat’s wee, sick and werewolf poo amongst a few others!

The next, and final team activity was to build your own monster – each team was given a box full of material, a load of cardboard boxes and some glue/sticky tape. It was creative mayhem, everywhere was littered in monster making items!  All the children and young people (and foster carers) got really stuck in to it and we ended up with six awesome looking monsters.

Obviously, it wouldn’t be an FCA event without a good feed, and supper came in the form of pie and mushy peas, homemade soup, cheesy pizza and jacket potatoes with beans. These went down a treat after all that monster making. Once everyone had been fed, there was just time to have a few sweets, enjoy some eyeball and worm jelly shots and collect a party bag before home time.

It was an absolutely terrifying and terrific evening. The turnout of children and foster carers was better than ever and everyone had really made an effort with costumes. The office looked incredible thanks to all the hardwork of the staff and numerous foster carers. Roll on Halloween 2016!
