Welcome to our page on fostering in Cardiff in South Wales. You might be here because you’re interested in finding out about a bit more about fostering or you might have been considering a career in foster care and now is the right time to take the next step.
With 80 offices around the UK, FCA is the largest Independent Fostering Agency in the country. That means 80 local offices to support local foster carers within their communities including this one in Cardiff which also serves as the local office for Bridgend and Newport.
Delivering wrap around support
When you foster with FCA you receive a high level of support from many different areas including a team of skilled childcare professionals who are regularly available to provide help and guidance on everything including therapy and educational needs (both for the children and young people in care as well as to the foster carer). You are also assigned a social worker and a Children and Young Person’s Support Service (CYPSS) worker.
This type of approach is called Team Parenting® and has been proven to help foster carers in their day to day fostering skills and challenges as well as encouraging better outcomes for the children and young people who are living in care because all areas of need are identified and addressed.
Fostering as a career
Fostering with FCA is not an isolated experience; with the professional expertise of the team above and an on-going local training programme as well as activities and events for looked after children and their foster carers to enjoy, we aim to increase communication and a sense of community involvement which encourages young people in care to grow into confident, achieving individuals.
We offer a competitive allowance and paid respite to all our foster carers as well as support through monthly carer group meetings.
