FCA is the largest Independent Fostering Agency in the country and has 80 offices situated in towns and cities throughout the UK. With your local office situated in Edinburgh, it also serves the surrounding towns including fostering in the Lothians.
Team Parenting® in Scotland
At FCA we offer support and guidance to our foster carers and the children and young people they look after in a range of different ways and through various services.
One of these services is called Team Parenting® and consists of a group of professional experts in childcare who are regularly available to offer help and advice to foster carers as well as structured guidance on any fostering issues. The team is based at the local office and is made up of the following people:
- A social worker, assigned to the foster carer by FCA
- A therapist, available to work through on-going issues with foster carers and the children they look after
- A Children and Young Persons Support Service (CYPSS) worker, to support placements and identify needs to be met
- An education officer, to deal with any requirements to do with school and education
Become a foster carer
If you decide to become a foster carer in Edinburgh you are also entitled to attend many other events and activities organised by FCA within the local community as well as attending the regular training sessions held, with a view to enhancing fostering skills and knowledge on a continual basis.
