Northern Ireland Placements

Are you thinking of fostering in Northern Ireland?

FCA is always looking to speak with people who are thinking of fostering in Northern Ireland. We recruit foster carers for many different types of placements and from various locations across the province.

However, we are currently experiencing a particular shortage of foster carers for children and young people with notably complex needs and difficult behaviours.

Foster care for complex needs

Many of the young people in need of foster care in Northern Ireland will have experienced abuse or neglect. All of them will feel the effects of being separated from their birth families.

We need foster carers in Northern Ireland who can provide these children and young people with a safe and stable home.

FCA may ask that some of our foster carers in Northern Ireland have experience working with teenagers and have no birth children living at home.

The need for foster carers in Northern Ireland for Solo Placements

Foster carers are required in Northern Ireland to take specialist Solo Placements. There is a heightened demand for foster carers who can take these placements for children or young people, aged 10+, who have complex needs and exhibit challenging behaviour.

In line with FCA's therapauetic approach to fostering, summarised on our Team Parenting™ page, FCA will provide the necessary support services through which we give every opportunity to produce positive outcomes.
