Could you foster in Lisburn?

If you’re thinking of becoming a foster carer and you live in or near Lisburn in Northern Ireland then read on to learn about how to foster with FCA.

Being the largest Independent Fostering Agency in the UK, FCA now has 80 offices located across the country, creating a network of local offices with staff that build relationships and offer support in different ways to foster carers so that they are better able to produce positive outcomes for the vulnerable young people living in care.

Supporting our foster carers in Northern Ireland

Support for foster carers is available through a range of services offered by FCA, one of these is known as Team Parenting® and it is a proven approach whereby a team of childcare professionals based at the local office is available to offer guidance and advice on a range of topics around fostering. The team is made up of the following experts:

  • A social worker assigned to a foster carer by FCA
  • A therapist, available to address the therapeutic needs of the foster carer as well as the child or young person in their care
  • An education officer, ready to assist with any requirements surrounding the educational needs of the foster carer and the child or young person they look after
  • Children and Young Persons Service Support Worker (CYPSS) who can identify and address the everyday needs of the foster carer

The aim of the support we provide is to continually help our foster carers in their daily roles to encourage positive outcomes for the vulnerable children and young people who, for whatever reason, are unable to live with their birth families.

Other forms of support that we provide can be found in the regular events and activities available for foster carers and their families to enjoy as well as the on-going local training to equip carers with the skills and knowledge they need in order to enhance the futures of the children and young people they look after.
