Support for families fostering in the South West
Sherree Cole from FCA South West explains the benefits of working with a local support infrastructure for South West foster carers:
“Local support can be delivered quickly and responsively according to acute needs. This responsiveness leads to carers feeling well supported and valued. This, in turn, increases carers’ efficacy, which can lead to increased placement stability. By locating resources such as foster carer training and support groups locally, support for our carers to regularly attend training or support groups can be maximised, thus leading to a professional carer group.”
To support individuals and families who are fostering in the South West, FCA provides a multidisciplinary team of Therapists, Social Workers, Children and Young People Support Service workers and Education Officers. As a community, FCA South West support staff and foster carers create a community that reaches across the South West region.
