North West Sponsors ‘Ring-A-Reebok’ Charity Event
April 20, 2010

On Wednesday 24th March, FCA North West linked up with the Children Today Charitable Trust and primary schools all across Bolton to organise a record attempt for the greatest number of people to perform the traditional children’s rhyme, ‘Ring a Roses’ simultaneously.
The event took place circling the pitch inside the Reebok Stadium and was supported by children and teachers from nine schools in the region who had come along to share in this special event. Each school was asked to raise sponsorship, raise awareness of the need to support less fortunate children and young people in the region and to enjoy the experience.
Over 500 people took part in the event and all participating children and teachers received a ‘goody bag’ supplied by Foster Care Associates North West. The event also attracted support froma local soft drinks company and Sainsburys and Morrisons Supermarkets.
The local press were on hand to record and report on the record breaking attempt which saw Lofty the Lion (Bolton Wanderers Mascot) conduct the singing and keep the children entertained, ably assisted by ringmaster Phil Dunn. The children were magnificent and really entered into the spirit of the event.
Elizabeth Oakes Regional Fundraising Manager for Children Today said “This wouldn’t have happened without the support of Bolton Wanderers Football Club the hard work of Phil Dunn and the local fundraising committee, Lorraine Henshaw and the generosity of Bolton School Coaches, Olympia Coaches, andFoster Care Associates and the many sponsors who have donated to enable Children Today to help more children locally with sickness and disability. I really can’t thank you enough”
