FCA North East holds Big Carer Jamboree!

The team at FCA North East worked hard to plan their latest foster carer event around what local carers really wanted.
The general consensus seemed to be that everyone wanted sunny memories to warm them in the bleak winter months ahead; something fun and captivating that would entertain everyone.
And that’s how FCA North East came up with the Big Carer Jamboree of October 2011!
Sharing our proudest achievements
The Jamboree was an opportunity for the North East team to showcase some of their biggest and best achievements in 2011.
The local Children and Young People Support Service (CYPSS) team was pride of place, showcasing their work with A4-size colour photos of the year’s activities covering the main wall, a hard back book published with the photographs from the summer and a book for foster carers to write their own reviews.
The North East’s magnificent seven CYPSS workers then received their own certificates for Brilliant Work in 2011 to show how proud we all are of what they achieved this year.
Children’s Workforce Development Council (CWDC) certificates were also handed out and everyone was delighted to celebrate the five and ten year service of some of our longest standing staff and carers. There were dozens of bunches flowers, boxes of chocolates and copies of certificates delivered in a fast and furious way throughout the day!
Good food and good company!
Utilising the extraordinary skills of some of our foster carers, a delicious hog roast dinner courtesy of a local caterer was followed up by an amazing homemade citrus cheesecake.
Afterwards, there was a reflexology demonstration, with head and hand massages for all, and other local foster carers were kind enough to help staff man the Tombola, the £150 proceeds for which went to the ‘Help for Heroes’ charity.
Everyone left the Big Carer Jamboree with something, from FCA balloons to handfuls of jelly babies! A brilliant time was had by everyone, which is a great success for the hardworking team at FCA North East and all our dedicated foster carers.
