Things you need before you can foster
The requirements you need to fulfil before you can foster are important.
- You’ll need a spare bedroom, to provide privacy to the looked after child or young person.
- You’ll need to be able to commit the time and attention foster care requires.
- You must be over 21 years of age to foster with FCA.
You can foster if you’re old or young, single or married. You can foster whatever your sexual orientation. You can foster regardless of your cultural, religious or ethnic identity. What’s really needed in the fostering industry is capable, enthusiastic and compassionate people.
