Talented Foster Children Launch Artwork Exhibition
Talented foster children from Essex have got together to launch an exhibition of artwork highlighting their inner thoughts and feelings through creative expression.
Entitled Reflections, the showcase of artwork and poetry will be on display in libraries in and around the Barking & Dagenham area. It will be launched at Barking Learning Centre Gallery on July 14 at 9am, remain on display until July 25, then moving to future venues. The exhibition will be open during Gallery opening times.
Organised by Foster Care Associates (FCA) Eastern, the agency aims to pay tribute to the hidden talents of looked after children and young people who have experienced trauma, abuse or neglect.
Kim Selfe, recruitment officer at FCA Eastern, explains: “We are extremely proud of the work which has gone into this inspirational collection and hope it will attract attention and admiration from the people of Barking and Dagenham. Many children who live in care are often able to express their deep rooted emotions through creative expression. The FCA Reflections exhibition provides an insight as to how these troubled youngsters must feel.”
