Recruitment Drive Gears Up During Foster Care Fortnight | FCA News
May 16, 2008
With the UK shortfall of foster carers around 5,000*, one leading independent fostering agency moved up a gear during Foster Care Fortnight (May 12 -25) with the launch its latest initiative to help address this national dilemma.
Foster Care Associates (FCA) North East nominated a group of male foster carers and staff to lead a recruitment drive in conjunction with the British Motorcyclist Federation (BMF). The convoy of bikers took to the road on May 12, travelling from Seaton Burn, Newcastle to Peterborough.
Campaign organiser and senior support worker at FCA, Lee Broadbent commented: “We have been thrilled by the huge level of interest from our male carers who truly committed to supporting FCA’s recruitment drive.
“This latest initiative was just part of an overall campaign which FCA mounted during Foster Care Fortnight. We hope that the biking convoy will enable us to raise awareness of fostering and the need to recruit more carers across the North East of England.”
If anyone is interested in finding out more about fostering, FCA would like to hear from you. The agency welcomes applications from single people, married, co-habiting and same sex couples. For further information visit the website www.iwanttofoster.com or call FCA on 0191 212 6900.
