Foster Carers Have Pots Of Fun At Charity Tea | FCA Fostering News
March 26, 2008
Foster families from Newcastle had pots of fun when they took part in a fund raising tea party in aid of The Eve Appeal (TEA) – a gynaecological cancer research charity.
The themed event which was organised by Foster Care Associates (FCA) North East raised over £200 to help swell funds for the leading charity during Ovarian Cancer Awareness month (March 2008).
Part of the day’s activities included FCA staff and carers dressing up with red in their outfits to highlight the theme of “a touch of red” for the charity in 2008. A raffle with prizes donated by local businesses gave a further boost the fund raising activity.
Commenting, FCA North East director Mick Austin said: “As a leading fostering agency, FCA plays a vital role in the community and we are always keen to support the work of local charities such as The Eve Appeal.
“Working closely with families, FCA is especially aware of the far reaching affects which diseases such as cancer can have on close relatives and friends. Our fund raising initiative provided an ideal opportunity to bring together foster families and enjoy a memorable day in aid of a truly worthwhile cause.”
FCA is the UK’s leading independent fostering organisation with a network of 80 offices UK-wide including three regional offices across the north east. The agency provides quality care in a family setting for looked after children and young people who have experienced emotional or physical abuse.
FCA is continually seeking to attract new foster carers who believe they have the determination and understanding to take up the fostering task. Anyone interested in finding out more should call FCA on local number 0191 212 6900 or visit the website www.iwanttofoster.com
