North East Carer Conference hailed a huge success

FCA North East has celebrated hosting its first Foster Carer Conference. The event was held at Durham County Cricket Club, and hailed a huge success. The theme of the day was based around "caring for our carers" and also allowed for the introduction of new recording systems which will help to highlight all the hard work our foster carers do.

Carers enjoyed a two course lunch and were given the opportunity to indulge in beauty treatments which included hand massages provided by young people from a local college. Each female carer also received a gift bag filled with treats!

During the afternoon session, we welcomed along a representative from ‘Foster Talk’ who delivered a very engaging and informative presentation on the support and benefits available to all foster carer members.

The day ended with a round up of learning from the day and a quiz.

Sue Waller, Regional Manager commented: "This is the first of what we hope will be many regional foster carer conferences and events. It was fantastic to have so many carers in attendance and a wonderful opportunity for carers to get together with staff in an external venue. We look forward to the next one!"
