Eleanor Burnham AM champions the work of FCA
June 15, 2010
Following a recent visit to Foster Care Associates (FCA) North Wales, Eleanor Burnham AM has endorsed the quality and high standard of work carried out by the agency. On May 25 2010, the Liberal Democrat Spokesperson for Children and Families praised FCA in Plenary at the Welsh Assembly.
She said: “I have had the privilege of visiting Foster Care Associates, a private company that has given evidence to various Assembly committees, and I commend it as a beacon. How can we, and your Government, encourage the incorporation of the very best practice from the private or third sectors in statutory and local authority work? From what I have seen, that company is absolutely wonderful, and it deals with all the issues mentioned by Helen Mary and others. It is terrific. I know people who are foster carers and so I know that they feel under huge strain, but I commend the work of that company. Will you use its best practice and ensure that it is disseminated throughout Wales?”
The visit by Eleanor Burnham AM took place on May 21 2010 in Anglesey where FCA staff and foster carers were able to share their fostering experiences, as part of the UK’s leading independent foster care agency.
Head of operations at FCA Wales, Mick Sams commented: “This level of endorsement is clear recognition of the quality practice which FCA continues to deliver in partnership with local authorities.
“In sharing best practice with assembly members and politicians, FCA’s aim is to help them gain a deeper understanding of the key issues facing the fostering sector in Wales so that together we can bring about positive change to the benefit of children and young people in care as well as those who care for them.”
Foster Care Associates is the UK’s largest independent foster care agency with a network of 80 offices. The organisation currently looks after over 2500 children and young people who live with FCA’s 2100 foster families.
