Foster Carer Wraps up the Perfect Kit
October 11, 2005

A kit car enthusiast is hoping to raise awareness of fostering when he attends the Donington Kit Car Show, to be held this weekend October 15 - 16, at the Donington Park race track.
Keith Smith (46), is the proud owner of a bright red Sylvia Leader. Not only did he build the car himself but in a bid to recruit new foster carers, the car has been wrapped with the logo of the foster care agency he currently works for – Foster Care Associates (FCA).
Keith’s attendance at the Donington Show is just part of a nationwide tour and this will be his final show of the season. Since May this year, he has attended major Kit Car events across the country to promote the benefits of being a foster carer and help alleviate the shortage of foster carers which is currently 10,000, nationally.
Keith and his wife Gillian, who live in Middlesborough, have been fostering for just over one year. Keith explained: “Fostering is unbelievably rewarding and although it can be hard work, the benefits far outweigh any difficult times. I’m sure there are people out there who have considered fostering, but never made those first steps to find out more.
“I’m hoping that by touring the country with the wrapped kit car, I will draw people’s attention and use this as an opportunity to explain fostering in greater detail."
