A wealth of experience in Children’s Services

With 20 years’ experience in Health and Social Care, Stevie has worked with the NHS and the Children’s Services department of Social Services. During her time working within a Children and Families Team, she gained valuable experience in child protection, court work, looked after children and adoption.

Stevie joined FCA in 2003 as a Senior Supervising Social Worker. According to Stevie, she decided to apply for the post because she was so impressed with the work and outcomes FCA provides to children and young people.

The day to day work of an Operational Manager

In her role as Operational Manager for FCA Cymru, Stevie has found that no day is the same.

“In my role as Operational Manager, I am ultimately responsible for our strategic leadership, along with my colleagues and our Regional Director,” says Stevie. “My day can include supporting Team Managers on case or staffing issues, working hands-on in the placement teams, or discussing the financial status of the region. My responsibilities range from supervising Team Managers or education workers to managing the services we provide to support young people.

“The best part of my role is working with the staff team and foster carers to achieve positive outcomes to children and young people. But I also really enjoy the variety – it has certainly afforded me a well-rounded knowledge on all aspects of fostering in Wales.”
