Mick Sams
Mick is Head of Operations for Strategic Improvement at Core Assets Central Services. He has worked for FCA since 2005, when he began working as an Assistant Director in our offices in Cymru North.
Mick’s duties are to work across all the companies within Core Assets, including FCA, to lead projects that facilitate positive change. These projects realise the visions and values of the organisation in improving the outcomes of children and young people, as well as considering the welfare of foster carers, support staff, birth parents and our work with Local Authorities.
Religion and belief in the workplace
Of all the strands of diversity protected within the organisation, Mick identifies most with religion and belief;
“I come from a mixed ethnic background but primarily it is as a Christian that I would identify myself and that is why I am the diversity champion for Religion and Belief.
“I have always found that the Core Assets Group is a place where it has been safe and positive to discuss religious issues. In fact some of our foster carers attend the same church as I do! It has been so positive for me to see the way in which the company has respected my faith and respected the faiths of a range of different people including staff carers, young people and customers.
“I would strongly recommend Core Assets and FCA as a great place for people of religion and belief to work. My experience has been really positive; I have felt respected and I have felt positively regarded because of my Christianity. Most importantly I’ve seen the way that other young people, carers, staff and colleagues have been positively regarded, so as they say the ‘proof is in the pudding’.”
