Specialist Team Parenting™ fostering placements

In 1994, FCA pioneered the Team Parenting™ approach to fostering. The essence of Team Parenting™ is to create a therapeutic environment for looked after children and young people in a family/community setting that enables their carers to become 'agents of change'.

Thus, FCA’s holistic, wrap around support services – including supervision, training and advice – are delivered to the foster carer to ensure that each placement has the very best chance of success and stability.

Team Parenting™ for 'difficult to place' placements

Our Team Parenting™ approach enables the provision of family based support and care to children who have been identified as 'difficult to place' – children who may have a range of complex and challenging needs; who sometimes may have experienced numerous placement disruptions or significant stays in residential or secure care.

FCA’s Social Workers act as a lynch pin of support, working closely with the foster carer on a day-to-day basis, ensuring safety and stability within the placement.
FCA believes that education is essential to lifelong wellbeing. Having teachers as part of our team ensures that everyone is focused on encouraging the child to achieve and enjoy their education.
FCA Therapists play a vital role in creating a shared understanding of the child's emotional needs. This offers a real opportunity for positive and sustained attachments to be formed.
Our Children and Young People's Support Service (CYPSS) provides practical hands-on support and fun for the child in placement. They provide an invaluable lifeline to carers and young people.
Our Team Parenting™ professionals work closely with the wider looked after team to ensure that each child has the best chance of achieving the desired outcomes according to their care plan.
