Staff at Foster Care Associates (FCA) will put their best foot forward for charity when they step out to conquer 24 peaks in the Lake District, within a 24 hour time limit.

Entitled the 24 x 24 Challenge, teams from FCA regions will don their walking boots on April 28, in an attempt to boost funds for the Pakistan earthquake. Starting at Buttermere, the intrepid travellers will walk up hill and down dale, to complete a calculated distance of 64 miles - arriving at Keswick.

Spearheading the challenge is FCA therapy services manager, Mark Pearson. He hopes the initiative will raise sufficient funds to build a school for young victims of the disaster.

He explains: “This challenge is all about fitness and we hope that our teams will have the stamina and energy to stay the course. We have endured weeks of tough training including numerous sessions at the gym and a test run across the Brecon Beacons.

“Victims of the Pakistan disaster desperately need housing and shelter and we hope our efforts will raise at least £2,400 to build a family home. If we are able to raise £30,000 we could fund the building of a school.

“In order to hit our target, we are appealing to local businesses and individuals for much needed sponsorship.”
