Flying the flag for our Scottish region, Foster Care Associates (FCA) enjoyed the thrills and the spills at this year’s Royal Highland Show held on June 22 – 25.

The FCA marquee attracted the crowds with an exhibition of artwork and poetry created by foster children and, featured in ‘Rattle Your Cool’ – a book produced by FCA.

Commenting on the success of the show, FCA regional PR and marketing officer, Amanda Lindsay said: “It was great to take part in such a prestigious show and we were really encouraged by the amount of interest shown in our art exhibition.

“Visitors were especially impressed by the hidden talents of these foster children who are often able to express their inner thoughts and feelings through creativity. As a result, many of the visitors were keen to hear more about fostering and the vital role they can play in providing stable and secure home environments for looked after children and young people.”

The Royal Highland Show is the highlight in the Scottish agricultural calendar. Held at its permanent site at Ingliston, Edinburgh, this year the event attracted the second highest visitor attendance figure in the show’s history. The 2006 show was the 166th staged by the Royal Agricultural Society of Scotland.
