FCA – Off to a Flying Start
July 11, 2006
Foster Care Associates (FCA) is hoping to get off to a flying start when it officially launches its latest office expansion programme, in Merseyside, with support from local celebrity and Brookside soap star Dean Sullivan (Jimmy Corkhill).
FCA north-west region has invested in new offices based at The Former St Barnabas Vicarage, Carsdale Road, Allerton, Liverpool. It will officially open for business on Friday, July 28, with a celebratory Open Day.
Marking the occasion, Dean will perform a ribbon cutting ceremony at 11am as well as launching FCA’s regional summer balloon race with the chance to win a family day ticket to Alton Towers theme park. A basket ball demonstration performed by The Toxteth Tigers will also form part of the day’s activities.
FCA north-west regional PR and marketing manager, Marie Mannion commented: “We are thrilled to open another FCA office in the north-west which will provide a local link for new and existing foster carers living in the Liverpool and Merseyside areas.”
“Anyone interested in being a foster carer is welcome to attend our event which will run from 10.30am to 2.30pm. As well as staging a number of fun activities, FCA staff will be on hand to offer informal advice and information about fostering and we are especially keen to recruit new carers from the Black and Asian communities.”
Marie added: “The current shortage of foster carers is 10,000 nationwide. It is therefore vital that we continually look to recruit new carers who have the patience and understanding to take up this rewarding career.”
As the UK’s leading independent foster care agency, FCA operates a network of over 80 offices throughout the UK, including six regional branches in the north-west. It strives to provide quality care in a family setting for looked after children and young people.
